International roofing standards need changes

It is 2010 and the difference in the pricing of roofs and the types of roofs have drastically changed in the last 10 years. Trying to figure out where the market is going and what it will look like in the next ten years.

The growth in roofing has been altogether overwhelming in the last half of the past decade. Roofing systems are now supposed to fix many of the problems of the environment. Be more efficient, save water, add life to the building, and ofcourse be affordable.

From an outsideres perspective, these items are all good but AIA roof for the more studious roofing contractor or national architect, ” it is difficult to find there way in the woods”, Ben Feeser, designer says.

“For all the inovation, there is not much direction for guidelines and standard practices in the industry.”

The building and roofing industry will look to take the lead on these issues this year as it assembles at various conventions from the National Association of Homebuilders and Contractors summit meeting in January and the Urban Land Institutes Market study

Kirkwood Roofing and Kirkwood Homes are Historical

Kirkwood Roofing and Kirkwood Homes often have a historical flair. Many of these homes have different types of roofing components from shingles to cedar. Indeed some have tile or different types of metal incorporated in them.  The many historical helements that comprise a kirkwood home need to be replaced precisely and with great care.

Suppliers for these homes do not always stock these materials and so it is important to know where to get them.  For tile roofs for example, you can find many small suppliers that keep these on hand for smaller jobs or repairs.  The best of these values are found through a good roofing company that knows where to shop. These values can be passed along to the consumer in the pocket book and in time saved.

For more information if you are doing a historical project call us at www.movalleyroofing.com at 636-578-7390. IF you prefer feel free to email us at info@movalleyroofing.com

solar techniques are advancing in the midwest

There are many new techniques that are coming into play all over the midwest.  St. Louis’ solar market is starting to form and you can see new ideas coming into the market in many ways.

Solar thermal collectors and solar collectors are beginning to be designed and installed in building with some success. Although St. Louis MO does not have a state tax credit for solar it does benefit from the federal solar tax credits.  The overall decrease in cost and installation is what is driving the installation of solar.

Many people want to know what the  cost benefit is and how to calculate what they need for an install. Two ideas for that:

1. Call MOVALLEY ROOFING at 636-578-7390 or info@movalleyroofing.com

2. Use this chart to understand the basics of the install process.

solar panels range from 1 watt to 300 watts. Watts aer what they are measured. Solar panels that are up to 130 watts tend to be 12 volts. Solar panels which are more watts tend to be 21 to 40 volts.  The watt rating is how much power a panel will produce (amps x watts) in full sunlight at 75 degrees farenheit or 25% celsius. This is based upon optimum conditions and one should expect about ten percent less on performance.

As you can see it is best to try to come up with a solution that offsetts the building’s electrical costs partially.

Please email www.info@movalleyroofing.com   or www.movalleyroofing.com  and ask about our solar techniques

Pv Solar (Photovotolic) or Thermal Solar which is better

St. Louis solar owners are starting to get educated about the advantages of  thermal solar heating. Thermal solar heating uses the suns rays to heat water and is an inexpensive manner to heat your home.

By using this simple affordable technology, a building owner can expect to reduce their utility bills by approximately 35-45 perent.  The pay back for the installation of the required thermal solar collectors is typically no more than 7 years depending on the required installation. This system is an affordable solar solution for many people while the more known photovotalic solar solutions are more expensive and therrfore take longer to pay off.

Missouri Solar Solutions offer many options because of our temperature and exposure to the sun. Most 2 story buildings traditionally allow for enough roof top for and easy installation process to take place. If you rae a building owner who is looking for more information on solar solutions and want to see if a thermal solar collector or photovotolic installation is better than call us at 636-578-7390 or even better email us at info@movalleyroofing.com

St. Louis Skylights why they leak and what to do about them??

St. Louis Skylights are a great way to bring natural light to a room from any floor in an apartment, house or commerical building. Many types of uses call for a variation on the type of skylight that is used. Try a few of these simple solutions to keep your roof from encountering more problems with a sky light.

Many leaking problems are often a result of poor insualtion and can be traced back to a few of these problems. Consistent problems with this are typically flashing problems. Check the flashing around your skylight to make sure that it is squarely installed around the perimiter of the unit and properly placed under the roofing material so as to keep rain and moisture from penetrating the roof area. If the skylight is leaking in St. Louis storms please call MoValley Roofing and construction and we will send one of our qualified repair teams to take a look at the skylight.

St. Louis Realtors Need Good Roofers

In St. Louis, qualified Roofers are a difficult to come by my realtor friends tell me. Often times the realtors look for the wrong qualities and guide themselves into further problems.

Price and quality: How does a person get both. It is inevitable that a realtor wants to bring to their buyer a quality roofer at a good price but from this contractor’s view point not enough attention is spent on true value.

Education can be an important part of this process. A good roofer strives for perfection and gets the roof constructed in such a manner that it is completed correctly the first time.  At MoValley Roofing, we like to say, “you will be glad you dont have to call us twice because we fixed it right the first time.” This winning recipee insures attention to every job and we do and as a result we do not skip the little details. Use of the right materials and the correct amount of material are inclusive in every project we do no matter how small or large.

If you are a st. louis realtor call us for all your roofing and general contracting repairs at MoValley Roofing and Construction. www.movalleyroofing.com at 636-578-7390
